Patrícia Mamona is a Portuguese triple jump athlete with Angolan heritage. Her dedication to athletics began at the age of 13, but it was only at 22 that she realized she wanted to focus on triple jump.
Patrícia Mamona studied medicine in the United States, during which she competed in the American collegiate circuit. In 2012, the athlete from Sporting Clube de Portugal won the silver medal at the European Athletics Championships in Helsinki.
At the 2016 Olympic Games, she set a national record in triple jump with a distance of 14.65 meters in Rio de Janeiro. In that remarkable year for the Portuguese triple jumper’s career, Patrícia also received the gold medal in triple jump at the European Athletics Championships, and was honored with the title of Commander of the Order of Merit.
In 2021, she won the gold medal in indoor track at the European Athletics Championships and secured the silver medal at the Tokyo Olympics with a jump of 15.01 meters, setting a new national record in the discipline.
In 2022, Patrícia Mamona was awarded the rank of Grand Officer of the Order of Merit.
